Rick Pitman

I’ve been at Paramount Christian Church since 2006.  I came down to help out for a Sunday and have been at the church ever since.  Started out leading the contemporary worship for second service. About a year later I started leading the Traditional worship service as well.

I’ve attended church most of my life, with my mom usually dropping me off at the door step while she went back home.  When I was 14 she had me switch to a church that allowed me to play guitar.  It was there that a couple of musician ladies mentored me, teaching me how to play by ear.  I played at that church for 25 years before striking out to assist with a church plant.

When I turned 17, I believe the Lord was starting to put some pressure on me to turn my life over to Him.  I made the classic mistake of thinking I needed to make myself “good”  so I could come to God.  That didn’t turn out so good. After being successful for a couple of days I ended up behaving worse than before.  I still felt that subtle nudging.  Towards the beginning of my Junior year in high school I finally gave in and dedicated my life to Jesus.

I struggled during my college years with which direction to go.  I received the equivalent of an associates degree in Accounting.  Then I attended Northwest College for a year and a half, with a mind to major in Pastoral Studies.  I discovered that I didn’t really like to preach.  I was debating with myself about becoming a Youth pastor, a school teacher, or an accountant (CPA).  So….I became a Construction Superintendent.  My training was a little scattered but it seems to have served me well as I serve the church.

I’ve dabbled in lots of different ministries, including Youth leader, Sunday School teacher, Deacon, Elder, and Worship Leader.  I’ve officially been called a Worship Leader for over 20 years, but I’ve lead worship on occasion since my late teens.  My passions center around musical worship and youth.  If I could, I’d spend more time with youth.

I enjoy a lot of activities like hiking, biking, and racquetball. But my favorite activity is “Grandpa” time.  I don’t seem to have enough of that!
